I have a couple Tikka SA that I'm considering getting new chassis for. I'm aware that MDT has the ESS.
Just curious if there are others out there that I'm not aware of.
Thanks in advance.

Precision shooting, bench and prone.

MDT has the ESS and LSS-XL both of which are available for your left-handed Tikka.

Of those two, the LSS-XL in lefty Tikka does not normally come with the fixed buttstock interface. The carbine interface is not ideal for precision as your options for an adjustable and stable stock are fairly limited (although MDT do offer a few options.)

The ESS is very nice and I have seen some shooters use them at PRS matches, so they are not going to hold you back prone or bench. If you think PRS is in your future I would suggest you pick up a right hand ACC and get a local smith to mill it for the left hand action. It's not much work (less than an hour) and you have arguably one of the best PRS stocks out there.

In either case, you missed the one an only MDT sale of the year on black friday, so unless you want to wait a year you won't likely find a screaming deal on one.

I can understand the selection of carbine precision buttstocks is a bit limited, but I don't think it's fair to say its not ideal. We have released a few new options depending on your price point, and I love the pairing of the carbine interface with the SCS-Lite. Makes for a nice balanced rifle if you are using a factory contour heavy barrel in the 22" - 24" range.

Fair enough. I haven't seen the latest ones but good to hear there are more options on the shelf.

I'm liking my MDT Tac21 LH with a Tikka .223 HB 1:8" action in it. A scope riser was needed or very high rings for me to get a comfortable cheek weld. I've also shot my brother's rifles in the newer MDT chasis with lower mounted rear stocks. The Tac21 is heavy and great for stationary shooting but if you're planning to hunt for example, go with the lighter models with the barrel to exposed IMHO.
