Hi,
Newbie here, I’m a left handed shooter and would like to purchase a LH CZ 452 American or Lux but they are difficult to find. I have located a left hand Remington 581 .22lr.
I am interested to know what my fellow left hand shooters who happen to own a Remington 581 think of them?
I understand that the bolt handle is on the left side but they eject to the right. Does this cause any issues for the left hand shooter?
Should I wait and keep looking for a Left hand CZ 452?

Thank you.

Very nice looking rifle tlovel! Interesting what you say about being able to see into the chamber area. Thank you for the photos and thoughts.

I've owned my left-hand 581 for over 40 years, have shot literally several thousand gophers with it on my buddy's (apparent) gopher breeding ranch, and have only good things to say about the rifle. It has never let me down, and is still a super accurate shooter with the cheap Bushnell 4 X 32 scope I've had on it for that 40+ years.
My only regret is that the stock's a bit banged up now from bouncing around in various vehicles
I have 2 of the 6 round magazines, one original to the rifle and the other bought shortly after I got the rifle. They are plastic, but are reinforced at the top rear by a metal clip. On one of them the left side-plate started to detach about 20 years ago, but I glued it back tight with plastic model cement and it's held up since.
I'd say GO FOR IT (unless the asking price is out to lunch), you won't regret it, and once you have it check out gun shows etc. to find a spare magazine.
They are a great little rifle.

I've had 2 lefty 581's. They both shot just ok and functioned just ok. I guess I just couldnt fall in love with them. Ive also owned a right hand one. For my money, I'd take the cz or wait for the tikka t1x to come out in left hand. That's what I'm doing.

I have been looking for a 452 lh for a while. I had a 17 hmr 452 LH only reason I sold it was ammo cost but as far as the CZ 452 its tough to beat . My wife is a lefty also when she picked up the new tikka t1x she felt right at home and truth be told I feel I could make the transition to a Tikka right hand they cycle nice . Full size center fire rifles are all left hand bolts no compromise there . I found a .22 CZ 452 lh and its on its way to me now. One thing I do know once you find a quallity left handed firearm there is little debate to buy it before I get to it or some of the other lefties hear get to it

My first 22lr of my own, was a 581 but it was right handed. I used the 581 for about 20 years and had zero issues with it. With good ammunition, it was quite accurate.
