License Application Hiccups

So I applied about a month ago and they called one of my refrences today and he's a little not so shiny and he told them that he hadn't known me for three years but only 2 1/2. I called them and they interviewed me and I told them three but they never said anything about his statement. He said that they told him they were going to tell me to get another reference, however when I called they did not mention this at all. My question is...do you think they'll deny my application and will I have to wait months to know? Or should they have told me when I called? What happens if they do turn it down? Will I never get to re apply?

I'm trying not to stress too much, it just has cost an exhorbitant amount of money to get turned down now (at least to me anyways). Thx for the vote of confidence tho.
