I was wondering.... how long should a 22mag bull barrel typically?

I'm talking on a gun that isn't abused or rapid fired or anything like that.

I know 22LR barrels last for an eternity due to the lead bullets etc, but the 22mag has a jacketeed bullet and higher pressure and velocity....

So how long you guys think one would last (maintain the same accuracy?)?

Thanks

Interesting fact of bore wear is that it isn't bullets (jacketed or lead) that wear the bore, but rather, the throat gets eroded from the cutting action of hot gases, generated by the powder burning. In the case of 22 rimfires (including the WRMagnum) the amount of powder is so small in relation to bore size that barrel life expectancy is very good. Barrel life on one of these would be the least of my worries. Regards, Eagleye.

barrel life ?

I've had a Winchester model 9422 magnum for 34 years , it's had lots of use , at the range and hunting , no telling how many rounds through it , shoots like the day I bought it , don't worry , if it's not abused , it'll last more than a lifetime. You can will it to your grandchildren . Joe
