How did I live without this ?

Treated myself to a small cleaner while oy dollar is still worth a little.

Picked up a small 6 liter unit for $175 on Amazon.

Threw in these old chokes for 4 minutes and they are new again.

Did some trigger groups earlier and a bunch of tools , chainsaw carb and garden clippers and some of my wife's jewellery
Great little machines.
Highly recommended.
These chokes were filthy and the threads full of old grease

Congrats.
Use the search, lots of good informative threads to help ya.

Ruger007 I went with the 15lt one (with manual controls not digital) clean more m/c, small engine parts more than firearm parts.

For a while I was using one to clean Walther GSP triggers at competitions... Took it to work and the solvents we used to eat the EDM deposits ate through the stainless steel and ruined the electronics. Pity - it was lab grade.. Got stuff REALLY clean before it died.

What do you use as a cleaning agent?
I picked up 4 gallons of a cleaner 2 each SPRAY NINE and SIMPLE GREEN at a liquidation store

I also add a couple of squirts of dish soap.

My cleaner has a heater so I toss in the parts, set the heater to 50 Celsius and when it's up to temp. I run a 8 minute cycle, remove or if still dirty let them soak 10 min and run another 8 minute cycle.

Instructions say after 8 minutes wait 10 before you start a second cycle.
Very rare that I run a second cycle.

So far this size is working for me, but I can see where bigger might be better withbthese, if you have tge bench room

Try SurfiSol from Evergreen products, I've used for yrs & it works. U have to buy it in a 5gal pail, but it will last a long time . Good luck.

Cleaning solution lasts a long time, after each use I drain it through a coffee filter into a juice jug or similar conatiner.

I've cleaned a pile of things and still using my original 4 liters

I run mine with hot water and a bit of dish soap, then finish with a quick rinse and compressed air. Works great for carbon buildup and small parts.

I got the same ultrasonic last year and I cleaned a carb with it. It came out spotless esp all the holes and small areas.

I used Pinesol specifically. I find that if you put the parts in a ziplock with the solvent and just fill the tub with water, it keeps the tub clean for the next use.

I gotta try my chokes now.

I have been looking at a cleaner. But needs one big enough to fit motorcycle parts.
You can look up a post that I started some time ago on CGN - but I think the basket shape likely important for size to get, versus quantity of fluid in the tub - the unit I used will barely submerge a Mauser receiver, if you stick the thing in "corner to corner" and leave one end higher than other - I think I would prefer one with a longer basket. I see some sold with "square" or "cube" tubs - volume of fluid does not seem to matter so much as dimensions of basket, for cleaning "large" stuff. I think you will get same cleaning action if 1/4" of fluid cover or 5" of fluid cover. And I found the "freezer bag" or "peanut butter plastic jug" to be great idea to keep the parts / gunk / etc. in that container and bulk of water to be clean, for re-use.
