I would like to get an other scope in the 1-6x24 either 1” or 30mm tube, I think I would like to try something with illuminated reticle but “simple”...lighter is better and $1000 or less is my budget! Most of what I find is made for AR type rifle and they are rather bulky.
Currently I have on my Ruger #1 9.3x62 a Leupold VX3i 1.5-5x20 that is good, but wouldn’t mind trying something with a lower/higher magnification and illuminated....
what is out there?

I too am interested in exactly that.
If you have some spice, then Dante's has an awesome deal on the Zeiss.
Don’t have much dough these days..... but damn 1/2 price is sure a good deal!!!

I am with you on low power optics, I really like my vx3i 1.5-5X20 and vx2 1-4x20 but they just dont compare to my swaro z6 1-6. Although the swaro is quite a bit bigger than the vx's, I like the older style non illuminated ones better than the z6i. If you keep you eye open they do pop up used every once in a while for a good price, I got mine for just over your budget price

OP, whatever you choose, pay attention to the eye relief distance - I have had a couple No. 1 - for me, always a struggle to get the scope installed back far enough to get complete view - longer eye relief in the scope helps - I am guessing that your current Leupold might be about 4" or so? Some of the less expensive variable scopes here significantly reduce the eye-relief distance as the power is turned up, so might want to also keep that in mind.

Thanks guys that is good info...
So far the one I have VX3i is good regarding eye relief! I wouldn’t go with anything less though!!
