light options for a Magpul 870

If I was looking for a lower priced light I’d pick up an olight, which go on sale regularly iirc. They sound like they’re holding up well so far on firearms.
I have an EDC Pistol Light from Browning (about $100) mounted on my 870 Magpul. I mounted a vertical grip as well to avoid the light hitting my hand when shooting. The light can detached easily. I have an Olight PL Mini ($130.ish) that I have tested on pistols and AR's, with no issues so far at all (will be trying it on a shotgun in the future). You just need to attach a piece of rail for it to mount to on your furniture, and it has a QD latch. Below is the EDC Pistol Light.
Below is a cheap option I fashioned from a cheap China side mount ($10.99) and 200 lumen flashlight I bought for $12.99 locally. The mount would move with recoil and the light lasted about 20 shots until it started to flicker and was never reliable. I don't recommend this route.

Does your friend want something that will hold up to the recoil of a 12ga ..... or just a solution that will last 20 rounds?
1.) Buy a Magpul M-LOK Aluminum Rail and mount it to the forend in your preferred location.
2.) Buy a solid weapons light like a Streamlight TLR-1 or TLR-3. A TLR-3 is around CAD $140.- ...Those lights mount onto the rail in seconds .... and come off in seconds. And they will hold up to the recoil .....

I’ve had two of these on different 12g shotguns for a coupe years, didn’t break the bank and they have surprisingly held up to recoil. The lights are a two pack of mastercraft “tactical” flashlights, they are 1” dia bodies and fit in any 1” ring or light/laser mount. I originally tried them to see if they would break from recoil but they won’t lol.
The side mounted one on the forend acts as a hand stop, has bright, low and strobe modes and takes 3 AAA batteries. They were cheap and still available at Crappy Tire, my only complaint is they’re in the 200-300 lumen range but for indoors they’re fine. If I was outside and shooting at critters more illumination would be nice.

$32 for a pack of two, I was off on the lumens. They’re only 140L, I’m surprised they’ve held up to recoil this long lol.
