Hey guys, took my new CSA VZ 58 in 223 out today man that thing is awesome. Seems though on about 1 shot every other mag I get a light strike on the primer and it doesn't shoot. Anyone else experience this? Maybe it's my ammo? Its the MPA or MPA bulk stuff, steel cased.

Thanks, oh and it's a crap shoot trying to search for this info as far as my search skills go!

That's a good point. I tried to re shoot a few and they didn't go. I figured the bulk ammo I bought would be good to go. Anyone else have trouble with this stuff?

When I look at the firing pin hole in the bolt of my rifle, the pin hardly protrudes at all when I press down on it. I haven't had any problems with any ammo type yet, except with American Eagle Black box. I was wondering if this brand had what is referred to as "hard" primers (Former East Bloc manufactured ammo would most likely have these primer types--i.e. they need more of a "strike" to set them off). I doubt if American Eagle has "hard" primers, so I sent that part back to Wolverine and their gunsmith made it so that the pin protrudes more and it looks like the problem has been solved--I need to fire more rounds just to be sure though.

See what your firing pin protrusion looks like. If it was like mine, it probably didn't give enough of a strike to set the primer off.

^^^Do broken pins still fire some ammo types? Unfortunately, I didn't look to see what the protrusion was when it was first delivered to me versus after looking at it after the American Eagle ammo problem showed itself.

The gunsmith didn't report a broken pin in mine when I sent it back for examination/repair. I should've asked him:( I just figured (and it could still be the case) that the .223 model's firing pin protrusion is on the lame side...
