Light primer strikes with Mossberg MVP

Are there extra power springs that will work with the MVP rifles? I am annoyed by occasional light strikes with surplus and Norc ammo.

I had the same problem... I stopped shooting Norc surplus with my MVP

Could it be that the primer pin protrusion is at the low end of the specified length?

Hard primers for sure. Happens every 20 rounds or so. I am hoping there is a compatable spring from a similar firearm or whatever that I can replace the stock spring with.

Never had this happen to my MVP. But I've only shot federal hornady and mfs

Take the spring out and examine it carefully on the ends. You may find that the tail of the coil has a scarp edge. If so, you can use a belt sander to flatten it a bit and make it smooth. Don't let it get hot or cut to much off. It just needs to be smooth enough that the spring can rotate a little as it is compressed and expands without the scarp edge digging in.

I have had this problem just recently with a Mossberg 810 C. It is an old gun and the owner told me that it had a week strike from new. It works fine now.
