Light weight XCR-L barrel vs. heavy barrel?

Hi guys, can anyone tell me how much of a weight difference there is between the light and heavy barrels for a 556 XCR-L? I have a heavy weight barrel right now and I'm thinking about making it a DMR set up and picking up a light barrel upper to run iron sights, red dots or an Acog. Will I notice a big difference in weight and accuracy?
 
Yes, very noticeable difference. The lightweight barrel is .582" O.D. IIRC. I want to say the heavy is .875" but dont quote me on that. The weight difference is quite noticeable especially with a keymod forend. So long as you don't ruin it with every accessory in God's creation, they're nice and light. If you tactically accessorize the tactical f**k out of it, it will be as tactically heavy as a tactical turd. With a light barrel, keymod upper and irons they're comparable to a CZ-858. With a heavy barrel, quad rail, foregrip, rail covers, scope, mount, BUIS, toaster, and tac light they're comparable to a splitting maul held at arms length.

Tactical turd! I love it, can't wait to call a couple of my buddies that.

I have two uppers, but they are both quad rails. I only attach the ladder rail covers and a grip pod to it.
 
The light profile barrel is thin for sure and heats up fast along with the gas block.

Cannot speak for accuracy changes as I've only shot light contoured barrel XCR's.

My rifle is 762x39 Keymod new gen but I want a 5.56 Heavy Barrel upper for DMR style fun.
 
I'm not trying to get crazy sub-moa groups with a light barrel. I'm happy with two inches or so at 100, typical combat accuracy.
 
I held a non-restricted heavy-barrelled XCR for a few minutes in a gun store once.
The salesman says to me; "You can legally carry this thing all day long in the bush."

I just broke out laughing, due to the ridiculous size and weight of it.

I can't imagine carrying one for even half an hour. Never mind all day.

It's heavy alright!
I really love the rifle and paid a lot for it so I force myself to carry it. Lol.
If I don't get a lighter barrel I may have to start doing more push-ups and pull-ups.
 
IIRC my 223 keymod weighs 7.5 empty yet it handles well with the lighter barrel.

The 6.8 SPCII barrel is a heavy contour barrel and I can tell the difference in the balance.

I coyote hunt with the 223 and deer hunt with the 6.8 and have no trouble carrying it all day but I use a Magpul MS4 sling.
 
Thanks for all the input. I ended up getting a lighter barrel through the EE. It does make a considerable difference in weight! Can't speak to the accuracy yet but that will be found out later this coming week.

I don't know, I've carried mine all day, it's not as light as a few of my other rifles, but it's no big deal.
