So I'm looking for advice about ways to lighten the bolt lift on my savage axis. I've read some stuff online, but there seems to be a lot of differing opinions so i figured I'd ask the experts here.

So what are my options? Polish surfaces? Trim spring? Something else?

Grease the cocking pin, but I wouldn't do anything else.... Maybe lift some weights?

Its not that I can't move it, I'm not that pathetically weak (although some days I feel pretty close)

Its that it is hard to manipulate from the shoulder. I have a super cheap Mossberg (ATR100) and the bolt lift takes like half the effort...

Does it do this will all types of ammunition?

Cheers
Jay

From what I can gather, its a pretty standard savage thing (having heavy bolt lift)

It does it even when dry fired. (I am assuming you were thinking maybe hot ammo was making it stiff?)

^ Yes I bought a savage bolt lift kit and it is a small bearing /washer that goes behind the bolt handle.
It wouldn't work on my savage 10TR though...anyone want it let me know.

Well if it'll work in an Axis I might be interested, whats it worth? (Does anyone know if this kit will work in an axis??)

I don't think the axis is the same mechanically, I do have some of the bearings but no spacers, I did the mod on a model 16 I had, I did not make a substantial change. Feel free to PM me about bearings but do some research first
