Lighten up a Sako ?

Can you guy's give me some idea's on how to lighten the wieght of my
Sako stainless synthetic n 300 Win Mag ? Also does anyone know the wieght of the factory stock ? The rifle is a bit of a beast to pack around all day !

Try a different sling. ie. Boonie Packer Safari sling. I don't think I'd mess with my '75, trying to lighten it up. I 've been using these slings for years and find they are the best. Keeps rifle where it should be while you're hunting(port arms), gets outta the way fast when you need the rifle and can be used in many configurations.
 
There are a number of weight reducing procedures you might consider - such as going to a shorter and lighter contour barrel, skeletonize the bolt handle, choose a compact scope and lighter rinigs, and address the stock by removing material, or invest in a slimer stock made from a lighter material.
 
Have the barrel shortened and turned to a lighter contour is the easiest I think. It probably won't shoot quite as well with the lighter barrel and velocity will be down a bit with a shorter length and it will kick harder. There is a reason most magnums are not that light.

Suck it up and get a good sling and switch from shoulder to shoulder. :D

that's true but if the rifle in question here is a 75 it probably goes over 10 lbs with scope, I had a 7mm mag that did. I sold it and bought an older Sako AV in 300 win and with a Zeiss Conqust scope in optiloks it goes 8 lbs 6 oz and is very comfortable to shoot.
