I note that the Heym SR20N 9.3x62 is more than a half pound lighter than the same rifle in the smaller calibres (30-06, .308, 6.5x55, .243, etc.) This is not due to differences in walnut density. I have weighed five Heym SR20 stocks, and they all weigh approximately the same.
I assume this 1/2 lb. + lightness is because of the larger bore, yet with the same outside barrel dimensions, resulting in 1/2 lb. less barrel weight.
The slight loss and redistribution of weight result in a remarkably well-balanced and handy rifle.
