Hi,

I'm starting to shoot my Ruger 10/22 more now, mainly because I have no money to buy a .223 and ammo is so cheap. I hadn't really used it that much yet, it is my dad's from 25 years ago but it still works and looks great except for a few stock scratches. Anyway, I noticed how heavy the trigger is, is lightening a trigger a job that can be done at home or do I need to take it to a smith? If it's a home job then please tell!

Thanks!
Evan

Rodger at Dark International may be able to look at it for you. IIRC he's in cambridge.

There are also several upgrade kits from Powers Custom, Volquartsen, JARD, etc that you can get.

Check out the links at www. rimfirecentral.com you can do the work of just buy drop in parts, I did the work and everything has been good for a few years now.
Or you just get the parts and are guranteed results.

I had mine lighted up at Reliable Gun in Van...I think they just polished/stoned/sanded in down (not a gun-smith) cheap and it makes a huge diff. Check out the 10/22 sticky at the top. Tons of good info.

i did a power custom hammer and sear kit and it dropped from factory weight down to 2lbs, 14 oz
it looks intimidating at first, what with guys telling you to disassemble the trigger in a plastic bag so the springs don't go flying, but that only seems to be a concern if you have to remove the safety, which for the hammer and sear you don't remove.
it hardly took me 15-20 mins to disassemble and reassemble with the new parts:)
