does anyone have any tips or suggestions how I might make the trigger pull lighter on a model 39 cooey.it pulls at well over 8# right know.would like to lighten to 4 -5# if possible.thanks
Change the springs. The trick will be finding the right sized spring.
As I recall, the trigger parts are stamped on Cooey's. Not easy to polish the sear and striker mating parts. You could give that a try though. No metal removal. Just polish out the tool marks. Be a good idea to look for burrs before you do anything.
thanks I got a couple different springs today..I am going to see what I can do.I was thinking valve lapping compound on bolt notch and sear .for a smother mating surface.
"...thinking valve lapping compound..." Jeweller's rouge and a cloth wheel. You'll have to experiment, carefully, with the springs. Measure the existing spring length and diameter and match that with a lighter weight spring.
I would stay away from power tools for sear tuning, it's too easy to mess things up.
Go for polishing stones just to smooth up any burrs without changing angles.
thanks guys I polished the bolt notch and sear .not much change in weight but smother.I knock the trigger pin out replaced the spring with the lighter of the two I had.its now around 6# which is a vast improvement.unless I can find some more springs to try Iam done.ps I wacked the butt several times with a head blow malat and the bolt does not fall .looks good to go.
