Here's the situation:
I have a 300 ultramag XCR with aluminium picatinny
I want a good scope from 2,5 to 10,12,14 or so
But has to be the lightest scope
Need the mounts for : but tough and light
open budget
What are your suggestions?

Hunting purpose. I have an aluminium picatinny rail on it already or near by!
Someone suggest me warne maxima but I don't know them, quality and weight?
Thanks

Talley one piece light weight rings/base, solid and very light (2.5 ounces)

VX-2 compact 3-9x33 is 8.8 ounces and will survive on a 300rum. A bushnell elite 4200 2.5-10x40 is also fairly light and will live on a 300 ultra. I have both of those scopes and the compact did time on the rum till I got a really lightweight rifle and mounted it there. I have had the 4200 on the rifle for quite a bit now and it works well, is pretty brite and tracks well.

Leupold vx3 4.4-14x40mm - 13 ounces! Add target turrets, goes up to 15/16 ounces. I did alot of research and could not come up with a better option for price/weight.

I compared leupold 2 pc dual dove tail mounts to aluminum rail with clamp on rings and only 2 ounces difference. I went with them and would reccomend them over anything that clamps onto a rail. Solid steel but much smaller/stronger/compact, so the difference is not as much as you would think.

Best rings I have found go right on Rem 700 action no bases required 2oz made by RW Hart

I have the VX2 Ultralight, 3-9X33 on one of my mountain rifles. Most of my scopes are mounted in Talley, one piece, lightweights.

Lost my footing due to some ice and tumbled a ways down a scree slope, with my rifle in hand. The scope took a few exterior blemishes, even cracked the rear Alumina flip cap. At one point during that great tumble of 2008, I even landed on the rifle, but the scope never even lost its zero. I fully expected the scope to have been a piece of junk after that fall. The scope now sits on a different rifle, but it works just fine, aside from a cosmetic blemish or two.
