Lightweight 18.6 barrels, what options were/are there?

I built a few rifles over the past 3 years but didn’t put much thought into weight. I’m now trying to lighten them up.

I know barrel availability is slim pickings these days but wonder if you folks could help with suggestions so I can search the EE and post WTB there too.

I’m after:
18.6” rifle length gas system
Lightweight profile like a pencil profile or hybrid like the Faxon Gunner
Not really after carbon fiber wrapped barrels
Prefer 1/8 twist .223 Wylde but 1/7 twist would be OK too.

Off top my head I can only think of Maple Ridge and Faxon. What other options were there in lightweight profile?

For reference I’m trying to replace a MRA SPR and SPR fluted barrel.

Have you made 18.6” pencil profile with .750 gas block area before? Not sure on exact specs so open to direction. Basically trying to shave weight but not compromise performance even if I do a lot of quick shooting. As much as our mag laws allow. lol.

Only made a few thousand of them over the last 27 years, so I think we can cover your requests without issue.:)

It sounds like Govt profile is more what you’re looking for. Pencil profile generally have .625” dia gas block. Both profiles are skinny under the handguards.
