Looking for lightweight low power scope:

  • Lightweight
  • Fixed or low variable, but at least 6x capable
  • Second focal
  • Illumination is irrelevant
  • Objective at least 36mm, no bigger than 50mm
  • Either basic bdc or holdover reticle, or exposed turrets to dial range. 500 meters max. Even less.

Current list I have:

1) Swaro Z3 3-10x42 (12.7 oz!)
2) Nightforce SHV 3-10x42 (20.8 oz, heavy :)
3) Meopta MeoPro 6x42 (15 oz. no local warranty)
4) Vortex Razor HD LH 3-15x42 (16 oz, but twice the price of MeoPro above, 2.8mm exit pupil at 15x is too small )
5) Sightron SIII 10x42mm (19.4oz, heavy for a fixed power)

What do you guys think?

Why a BDC reticle? Chances are it will not match your load... so might just as well get a mil-dot and learn your holder over.

The Siii 10x42 is a nice scope... but for the $ difference, I'd go with their 3.5-10x44 (20.8oz)

Of those listed, I'd go with the Z3.
- It would have been nice if they'd put adjustments in mill to match the reticle... but if you're not going to "click" your adjustment, it's a moot point.
