Like that Garand, or that SVT, or that SKS? Want to keep it? Think gun bans will only extend to "black rifles"? Think again.

Then get off your ass and start writing letters to your MP, the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Public Safety and the Prime Minister.

Think you'll get grandfathered in any sort of ban and that's okay? Grandfathering's not worth the toilet paper it's written on. Ask any 12(2-5) owner who's been sold out.

The name of your MP can be found here.

Ministers info can be found here.

Send your letters the old fashioned way, mail them. Mailed letters are far more significant than emails. No postage is required.

Your MP's Name
House of Commons
Ottawa, Ontario

The Conservative Party of Canada needs to hear from us, not just from the antis.

Let them know that they must end the long gun registry as they promised and that they must not enact any more restrictions on ANY types of firearms. Let them know criminals are the problem, not law abiding gun-owners.

Keep your letters concise and polite, and get them in the mail.

If you've sent one letter already (like I did) take a second and think, is it worth the free postage to send another one?

Heck yes.

I'm going to be shipping another set off this week, a bit more, um, forceful, in tone.

WRITE A LETTER TODAY!

I live in an NDP riding.

I've had 2 calls from my MP regarding letters I've put in the local papers.

I know he's reading them, and letting your MP know of your concerns is important REGARDLESS OF THE PARTY HE/SHE BELONGS TO.

Send a letter.

Send two.

Call your MP.

I've done two of the three above....the second letters going to go out by Friday.

Well said. Don't let living in a non-CPC riding keep you from mailing your MP. The left wing chases polls too. And, of course, the flavour of your MP is irrelevant for letters to Ministers and the PM.

Sorry, I have a smart question.

Do you put your member as an "Attn: John Smith, MP" at the bottom or at the top?

I believe the proper form is "The Right Honourable #### Smoker" followed by the address.

I believe "Right Honourable" is reserved for either cabinet ministers or very senior MPs that used to be Cabinet ministers, etc.
"Honourable" is the proper term IMHO. But not for Libs or NDP or BQ... however, technically, according to the rules of Parliament, they are "honourable" as well (excuse me while I talk to Ralph and Huey).

Letter SENT.

Dear Mr. Poilievre,

As an avid sportsman living in your riding and a Conservative campaign contributor and voter, I was dismayed this week to hear through party contacts that the CPC may be considering a ban on semi-automatic rifles and a reversal of their pledge to end the wasteful long gun registry.

While tragic, the recent school shooting in Montreal serves to show that throwing good money after bad on an ineffective long gun registry program is not the answer. Rather, valuable funds need to be re-directed to law enforcement and health care so that these depraved and mentally ill vermin that would prey upon society can be detected and given help BEFORE they become a danger to us or themselves.

Scapegoating honest sportsmen yet again is NOT the answer!

I remind you that a vote is a precious thing to lose, and not following through on your party’s election promises to end the useless and wasteful gun registry will result in the loss of my vote and the votes of anyone I can influence – a consideral number of like-minded people. I would rather see an acountable party in power that follows through on campaign promises than one that does not – regardless of their political stripe.

I trust your and your colleagues will do the right thing and make criminals accountable, not me.

Sincerely,

Ok, I have written letters to my Emm-Pee, Stock and Vic. I asked for responses in all letters and I will continue to write every two to three weeks from now on.

I like my Garand.

Just fired one off to that slime, Peter McKay:

Dear Mr. McKay,

I am a long time Conservative party donor and a CPC voter in the last election. I am also an avid sportsman and had thought you were too. Friends in the party have warned me that you are working on selling me and people like me out by bargaining away our repeater hunting rifles for the shimmering prospect of urban votes in Quebec.

A man as intelligent as you are surely realizes a bird In the hand is worth two Quebec birds in the bush. I trust you then realize that my vote and the votes of anyone I can convince will be lost to the CPC if you proceed down that treacherous path. I did not vote CPC so that my property could be used as a bargaining chip. Such tactics reek of Liberal backroom politics.

Please assure me that gossip is just gossip and stick to the grass root policies that got you and your party elected.

Sincerely,

###X

OK First things First,

Let's look at where this Idea of more Gun Laws is coming from:

1) The Public (who are voter's) = Vote for the party's
2) The News Papers (who are trying to sell news papers, which are probably owned mainly by Libs) = method of Advertisement for the Libs Party.

We all know what the story is. They all want votes.

Well instead of these Party's wasting Parliaments time and the Country's money arguing.

Why don't we tell them to start leading the country and have them as our leaders tell these prospectable voters that more gun bans and regulations will NEVER solve the problems of crime. Look at England, Pistols are very very Prohib, as are many rifles, but the English still seem to aquire them and with the USA right beside us "Good Luck" keeping Prohib firearms out of this country.

So the first thing to do is sway the public's oppinions away from these gun issues which are not the problem (as we all agree to on CGN) and more closly to the criminals (but of course they always get to have the excuses).

It's not he who invented the Gun who pulls the trigger.

Well that's just my ínput.

P.S. This is the first time I've wrote a post and just wanted to say that everyone here has great input on CGN.
