Lilja questions

I have a Lilja barrel on my .243 and it shoots, but I have no experience with their rimfire barrels. I understand Gaillard makes a rimfire barrel, that would be my first choice. Unfortunately I no longer have Ted's contact info, but I'm sure someone will post it.

jes,

Lilja makes excellent rimfire barrels used by top benchrest and position shooters. I personally had better luck in the past with Hart but still, Lilja are hard to beat.

What you have to keep in mind is that no matter how good is the barrel you'll choose, you will still be using it on a 77/22 action which doesn't have a reputation for excellent accuracy. If you add the price of your rifle plus the price of a Lilja drop-in ($360US + shipping), you'll get close to the price of a used 54 Anschütz or a Sako which would not be in the same class of your Ruger as far as accuracy is concerned...

Soes anybody have any expereince with them? Specifically with a 77/22 lr.

I had a sporter contour one on my 10/22, it shot very well looked great, but to be honest I expected greater accuracy then what it produced.

It confirms what I said: putting a Lilja on a 10/22 or 77/22 action is like using nitromethane fuel in a Hyundai Accent :)

Got one on my Sako. Accurate but seems very ammo specific unlike the stock barrel where I could get away with cheap practice stuff.

I understand that the ruger action might not be the best for accuracy, but I traded into the rifle and I like some of the features of it, flush 10 shot mag, 3 postion safety, etc. It seems to shoot everything into about 3/4", I would like to see 1/2 to 3/8. Do you think this is a realistic expectation from the Ruger action?
