hi there anyone have some feed back on a good limb saver? i have a 270 husky and I am intrested in getting a saver for it, any recomendations???
thanks for the help.

I have installed both the Limb saver and hundreds of the Decelerator... I much prefer the Decelerator...

Well, on my 12 ga. I could only fire 3 turkey shells before getting a sore/brused shoulder. 3" 1 7/8 #4 shot at 1300 fps. I have since installed a limbsaver and can now shoot through a box easily. It is by far the best gun related purshase I've made. I think it may have added about a 1/4 inch LOP, which was ok.

I think it should be asked why gunsmiths "prefer" certain pads. Is it because they are easier to install? Or is it because they are better at taming felt recoil?

I have both decelerators and limbsavers and both are great on my heavy kickers. However I think the limbsaver actually works slightly better at taming felt recoil. Thats just my opinion. The decelerators seem to me a tougher and more durable pad though. Some of my early limbsavers had the soft sticky surface problem which they have now fixed I gather.

For a 270 it won't matter much if you buy a decelerator or a Limbsaver IMO as it has relatively little recoil to manage anyway.

He prefers Kick-Eez because they work better for his customers and as a bonus he finds them easy to grind. He has installed hundreds if not thousands of Pachmyers, Uncle Mikes, LimbSaver and lately Kick-Eez and Hogue. He has had customers complain about their lack of perceived felt recoil reduction with Pachmyer and Limbsavers. After he installs a Kick-Eez the customers go away happy. Is there a difference? Who knows? But his customers are happy with the Kick-eez pads and that is really what is important.

I use Kick-Eez on my 12 gauges and find they work great. Better than a Limbsaver? I don't know as I have never used Limbsaver on a rifle with recoil. Had one on my Rem 700 in 204 Ruger but never noticed any recoil to begin with. And with the Boyd's stock on it now and the 1/2" hard rubber pad I don't feel any difference in recoil.

limbsaver probably works better but the decelorator looks better. i would give up a little in the softness for a better looking pad. some of the real soft ones seem almost gummyand hold grit when the but touches the ground.

I use the Kick-Eez because they come in 1" or 1 1/4" thicknesses. I usually have to add that for a proper LOP. Longer arms. I have them on everything except my syn stocked SKS, but I added 4 1/4" butt plates to it. I don't really feel recoil without them, just shoot better with them. Short of a custom stock, I have to do this for every commercial stock I buy. Even though the commercial producers have to pander to the masses, they make "youth size" stocks, I am sure that they could offer "man sized" stocks. I see lots of people all crabbed up on their rifles and lots of times, the recoil they feel is because they don't have the right LOP. Usually just toss them a slip on recoil pad, adds 1/2" -3/4" and the groups clean right up. Felt recoil has a lot to do with stock fit.
Short of a custom stock, and until I can afford to get them, I'll have to do this for every commercial stock I buy.

Advantage of Limbsaver is that it's made to fit, and can be installed in minutes. (Real good idea for a Tikka T3 Lite in a magnum caliber...)

Decellorators are also very good, but...unless they're making made to fit models now, at least to look like they belong, unless one is good at that kind of work...require the services of a smith for installation.
