Interesting piece for the collectors :d

What do you mean? You want to restrict these to csor personnel? Because then almost none of them would sell.

Yes, restrict them to those who have served in the unit. Yes, there would be few sold, but at least they would have meaning and value. JMO.

I never understand why people who haven’t been a part of something try to get their hands on things like these. It’s similar to people at airshows trying to get Sqn coins....why? On the off chance someone manages to get a Hornet/Herc/Griffon coin doesn’t make them a Hornet/Herc/Griffon pilot/aircrew. Just because you purchased a CSOR 10yr P226 doesn’t make you part of their club. By releasing it to the public Sig Sauer has turned what could have been something unique for the unit into just another corporate marketing ploy. You know, because there weren’t enough options in the P226 line available to the public.

Sorry but the cynic in me says that this is just a cash grab by SIG. Take a regular model, add $20 worth of machine engraving and jack the price up by a bunch.

CZ is famous for this. They seem to have anniversary models for every conceivable commemoration.

Collectible guns are more an accident of time and history. Trying to create one rarely seems to work.

+1 sailor. While there are always a few that like these editions and that's cool, can't see there being any real collector value to these in the classic sense.

Ah you two cynics. Wait 150 years and come and tell me they are not worth something. :>). By then Trudeau's great, great Grandson will be telling the folks in Ontario federal budgets balance themselves and Quebec will have allowed an Oil Pipeline through the Province to the East.

Take Care

There would be almost none sold. Which would nullify the point of this existing. Which if I'm honest other than fanboys of sig and/or csor this wouldnt really appeal beyond being a 226 with some engraving on it. But people like to get these because reasons? What's harm in getting it?

As for coins and patches bought at airshows they usually aren't numbered like the ones that people get when they get to a unit. And people like to collect patches coins tshirts because reasons so whats the harm? And the money raised from it goes to social events for the unit...

I think we’re saying the same thing, just have opposite perspectives. I never said buying any of this stuff harms anyone, it just makes what could have been something special into yet another marketing game by Sig to sell a firearm reaching it’s best-before date.

That and the fact there is a little bit of Soldier of Fortune in every male. Come on just admit it. Walter Mitty lives in all of us. God bless those who actually do what most cannot.

Marketing sells and gun manufacturers make guns to make money. If I had a son or daughter serving with our CSOR I would buy one for them in a heartbeat. It would be something they would appreciate I am sure.

MDC has been working on the car pistol for at least 2yrs hst I know off. It was 18 months ago when a bunch of people and i were at mdc and they were still teying to get this done.
I too agree thst this is not somthing thst shoukd be sold to the public. Same as thr para ord pistols for 10yrs ago.

If that were the case they are a few years late. There other lighter options offering what the 226 offers for less money... one of which is directly from sig itself.

And I still don't see how making this available only to csor makes it special... unless it's a straight up gift given to the members of the unit for their service. Like here spend your hard earned money on a gun that looks like your work piece but has some engraving your work gun didn't have... i can't speak for them but thats like making a caf edition hi power available only to caf members. Even at a discounted rate i gurantee you most of the folks would take a hard pass on that one regardless on how many maple leafs are engraved on it.

The only member i know that used to be in that unit is a hardcore glock guy... im still trying to get him to drink some red kool aid and buy into the Hk master race but alas he isn't swaying from glock.

I'm sure they would sell tens of them but seeing that it offers next to nothing over a regular p226 it doesn't have any "specialness" to it.

Now if they let you retire with your favourite war horse... that's a completely different story. While I'll take a hard pass on any issued hi power. If i was given the option to take my c7a2 with me on retirement. That would be special to me...

Well they could get ahead of the curve and engrave up a M17 which likely will be the Cdn Army's nextpistol if and when the bean counters get tired of waiting our money on a search for the Inglis replacement. The research has already been done and the Cdn government gets a credit for procuring equipment from the US which has to be offset by Us purchases of Cdn produced equipment. To easy I guess.

There is a glaring problem with what you suggested. It makes sense.
