Just wondering what my limits are on a Bushnell Trophy 3-9 x 40??

Right now I went a little overkill on a Ruger 10/22 with it. Curious if it is in the right class to use on a Tikka T3 .223 rifle or not. I don't need to shoot 350 yd plus really, just enough to have a blast on coyotes and such.

Anybody have any advice on this please??

Thanks

Should be fine on the 223. Try it and see. If its in good working order, holds zero, it beats the heck out of iron sights IMO. 223 bolt action's aren't particularly punishing on a scope. The trophy is probably an OK, low price end scope. When it comes to optics, you can spend hundreds to thousands.

Yeah that what I was thinking that the .223 shouldn't be too bad. As for overkill, I was relating to the fact that a .22 rimfire scope for $50 rather than my Trophy for $150 would have been ok that's all. What I'm trying to do is buy the Tikka T3 .223 and have a scope ready for it as I don't have the extra funds as of now to buy a $300 plus scope. Then just buy a cheaper one for my Ruger 10/22.

Cheers

It's not so much over kill as opposed to the fact the the parallax is wrong for a .22 as the 3-9X40 Trophy has a 100 yd parallax when you should have a 50 yd one. A better choice in the Trophy line is the 4-12x40 as it have adjustable parallax for the closer ranges you will be using it at and still be useful for longer shots. Phil.

Hey I've heard that about the Mini-14 being no tack driver. Is it a newer one or an older one do u know??

Cheers

Hey Cayden
The mini was bought new about 5 years ago, but it is the old style ( no harmonic dampener ). It shoots 3 inch groups at 200 yds pretty consistantly with Win factory 45 gr ammo.
