Hello there, I am involved in a competition where .22 auto rifles are used, in one stage, we fire at 5 separate targets in 4 seconds, 4 feet apart at 20 meters...hence the need for an auto ! The Ruger 10/22 is the rifle of choice by most. I am looking for a lite probably synthetic stock, but also balanced for scope use (we do use scopes) any suggestions ? Something I can swing around with minimal effort. Thanks

Sounds like a fun competition - wish I could find something like that out here in Calgary.

You don't really say it, but I'm assuming you're looking for a pistol grip "tactical" stock? Also assuming you are starting with a stock 10/22 and standard barrel? Lots of options out there for stocks - really you just need to take some time to figure out what you like and how much you want to spend. I can recommend the Adaptive Tactical (aka: Tacstar) 10/22 stock available from Cabela's or Wholesale Sports. Other solid choices include the ATI, Axiom and Tapco Intrafuse. Probably the nicest 10/22 tactical style stock I've seen lately is the new Fab Defense available from either Dlask arms or Zahal.org. If you don't want a pistol grip, then I recommend the Hogue overmolded stocks. They feel great and are very light.

Check out the Magnum Research with graphite barrel. Sweet rigs.

But if you're just looking for a stock, I know Boyds has some nice thumbhole laminate ones. They're actually not very heavy and are quite comfortable.

I know this will not be a popular answer but sounds like for what you described the ruger synthetic that comes with it would do just fine. Light synthetic stock with good balance and you can swing it around with minimal effort.Keep it simple have fun and buy some ammo.

Yep, its very challenging, just getting shots in the black is good !
My goto 10/22 is a Talo Mannlicher which is a bit cumbersome, but not too bad. The scope is great, a Leupold 3 X 9 X 33 I have it zeroed at 20 yds. The barrel is standard, and at that range the added weight of a bull barrel wouldn't be of any benefit. So, I'm looking for a lite stock suitable for the standard barrel.

X2 I don't think there is a lighter one. Not a stock but it sounds like it would work the best for what your doing it weighs like 3 pounds

ATI Strikeforce looks like it has the least amount of material (light) wrapped around a 10/22. it's also cheap.

I have the Archangel 556 on my SS 10/22, love it. Would consider swapping with the new cabela's "exclusive" ATI AR-22 stock (on sale right now).

The factory stock is nice but not a high enough for a good cheek weld when using a scope, (works okay with iron sights).

I modified one by building it up with a bit of bondo; a cheap and fun project if you have a place to do it.

Do like the look of the Magpul Hunter though, adjust the LOP as well as the adjustable cheek riser, make it fit whatever the situation

I like the Hogue 10/22 stock, mostly for the soft tactile nature of it. I'd expect there's a lot more to be saved weight-wise with an aftermarket barrel than there is with your stock choice.
