I was wondering whta chokes to use for what purpose...
Full, modified and improve cyl.

For clay, skeet and trap what do you use and why ???

I also read that we dont use the full choke with steel shot!!!!

Im lost with the choke thing, anybody can help me ??

thank you

Cylinder, skeet and improved cylinder for skeet shooting. Closer targets. More open patterns.

Modified, improved modified and full for trap shooting. Further targets. Tighter patterns.

Sporting targets vary in distance but most can be shot using improved cylinder and switching to modified for longer targets.

Ok thank you it anwser my question perfectly..

I shoot extra full in trap for singles/handicap and second shot doubles. I use an improved modified choke for first shot in doubles. Shooting full is not the best way to increase your scores, but it is the best way to increase your skills..

All the above info is dead on!! When you start talking about steel shot it does change, as some of the guns used above(for Trap and skeet) should not be used for steel at all. Choke recommendations change in guns suited to Steel shot use.

I was always told by a fellow at our club that has accomplished a considerable amount in ATA trap shooting, that you should shoot Full, Full, and Full...there are no other chokes haha....long story short, it does help build your skills, as i have been practicing these teachings....the up side to it is that awesome black cloud when you are on target
