Claven2 pointed out that it has MK2 wood on it and may not be safe.

So enfield people I need your help.

Take it apart. If the receiver is a Mk.I, and the stock an unaltered Mk.2, you will need to make a little spacer block to fill the cut in the rear of the stock. Then when the screw through the rear of the stock is tightened, the sides of the stock will not be pinched in. Some of the Sile sporting forends were set up this way, so that the same stock could be used on I or 2. If there is a trigger hanging lug installed on the front of the buttsocket, the Mk.2 stock is correct, and there is no problem.

No, it won't be marked. But the screw is a giveaway, and if the rear of the stock has a vertical gap, its Mk.2. Take the trigger guard off. If the trigger comes away with the guard, the rifle is a Mk.I. Look inside, and if there is a slot open in the stock running up the buttsocket face, the stock is Mk.2. If the cut is there, you will need to make a little spacer to fill the gap.

It is a steel screw and nut. Head of the screw is the same diameter as the nut. Don't think I have a set.

I'de like to hepl out there too but the thing is that I'm short a set too.

I have a nice FTR savage Mk1/3 that I got with a regular nut and bolt. But now thinking about it I should be able to make one on the lathe.

I've converted at No4Mk2 stock to a No4Mk1. I glued mine in with JB Weld and flied/sanded it down to fit. Best done with a dremel tool.

I cut the piece I needed from a sporter No1Mk3 stock.

Takes no time.
