Figured now that I have some pics developed, I would chime in here as well.
Our season started on Sept 24 as that is when our Moose draw opening day was.
My hunting partner, Craig and myself both got drawn in zone 446.
I have tyaken a lot of time off of work for this season so far, with the 5+hours travel time one way to get up there and hunt.
I'll try to keep this short and sweet and only tell of the highlights of the trips.
On Opening morning, we were down in the trees trying our best to sound like a couple of sleazy cow Moose. I don't know if were were sounding wrong, or if the Bulls in that area were of a higher class, and didn't want anything to do with such a sleazy cow. Needless to say, no luck.a Highlight of that say was seeing a real nice Blonde coloured Black bear. Neither of us had a bear tag, but we both regretted not having one the longer we watched it. It wasn't the biggest bear I have ever seen, but sure was a nice colour. One of these years, I'll be on the ball and buy a bear tag as this isn't the first time I wished I had one.
We left that area and headed further south and turned in on a road on the southern boundary of 446. (you local guys know which road this is). We looked high and low, here and there, but nothing. At the end of the day, past legal shooting time, we did hear a bull calling but it was too late in the day to do anything about it.
The next day, we were back in there, still looking for Moose. We were on foot in the Morning, Scouting, calling, moving on. We ran into a group of 4 Mule Deer bucks. Nothing big. The biggest one was a 3 point trying to be a 4 point. He had a bit of a stub on the 1 side that if it had grown a bit more, it would have counted, but it didn't, so he was a 3 point with a stub lol
We watched them for a good 20 minutes to 1/2 hour trying to decide if we should shoot or not. We both got burned the previous year with holding out for a Mulie bigger than what we had been seeing, but ended up hanging out tags on the Christmas tree that year.
The Deer finally wandered off, and made the decision for us.
The rest of that afternoon, was uneventful. We rn into the same group of Mulies that evening though, and still watched them trying to talk ourselves into taking one each.
After about 20 minutes of watching them, Craig finally said, I'm gonna take one. I decided that after he shot, if the next biggest one stuck around after the shot, I'd take it.
Boom, Craigs Deer goes for a frantic 30 yard run, and the next biggest stood there looking at Craig's Deer, then looked at us, looked back at Craig's deer, back at us.
Boom. 2 Mule Deer down.

Nothing big, but some good eating on them.
