Hi, today i went to the shooting range: -3 C, a little bit of snow and calm wind but i'm wearing a big coat(not the best shooting condition but not that bad!). That was made with my ''out of the box'' Savage 12 FVSS .223 with Winchester white box 45gr. JHP. Always surprised by the accuracy of those rifle, especialy for that price!...also, i've always heard that in cold temp., the accuracy drop???Three of the five groops was very good....the two others was 1'' and 3/4''.
Very happy!:D ....i cannot imagine how it could be with handloads!!

Cool! I just bought one also. It sits unfired in the safe while I decide on and obtain optics for it. What do you have on yours?
 
I have a Bushnell 7-21 40mm AO with the sun shade...great look!...the only bad thing I noticed about the scope is that the gaz seem to be not very good...and it's not because of the cold cause I've noticed that, earlier this fall so I will bring it to my gunsmith to see if it's normal?? When I look in the scope, I see the cross moving....like when you look on a hot surface, but not that much....and even if the barrel is cold!..so it's not caused by the barrel heat. I also had good result with Federal American Eagle 55 gr. FMJ.

Are the crosshairs moving or the target? If the latter, then it's mirage. You'll notice it even on a cool day when the sun shines. The higher the magnification you use, the more apparent this becomes :)

I noticed that with no sun, -3 Celcius and a cool barrel....anyway, it didn't seem to affect the accuracy...it's just annoying a bit. If it's worse and worse, than I will check that with a more experienced guy (my gunsmith)
