Im purchasing a Remington 5r 308.

I found this scope on sale: BUSHNELL E 6500 2.5-16X42 TACTICAL

http://www.bushnell-rifle-scopes.com/index.php/new/bushnell-e6500-2-5-16x42-tact-mblk.html

Im hopeing its a good match tor the rifle, however I dont know enough about scopes (or rifle for that matter) to make an educated purchase.

What do you think...would that be a good set up

Thank You,

B

I have a 5R with a Swarovski Z5 5-25x52 on it and I really like that combo. While I've only shot to 600 yards, it's amazing how easy it is to see the target and make shots at that range on 20-25x.
I guess it would depend on the ranges you plan to shoot. I'd have a look at the Bushnell 6500 4.5-30 instead, you won't regret having the added magnification and chances are you'll find that you rarely need anything below 4.5 power on a rifle like the 5R.

Depending on what you're looking for, there are better scopes for the money in my opinion. It really depends what you need.

Whenever buying something, ask yourself these 2 questions:

1) What will I use it for?
2) How much can I spend?

Answer those 2 questions and we can try to steer you in the right direction. I wanted to spend $1000 on a more tactical FFP mil/mil scope, so the choice was clear: Vortex. If I wanted a hunting scope and could only spend $500, I'd look at a Sightron, Vortex, Leupold, Nikon, ect.

Im hopeing its a good match tor the rifle
Scopes don't match rifles, both rifles and scopes should match application.

There's Bushnell (Banner, Trophy, D&D, etc), and then there's Bushnell (Elite, Elite 6500, Elite 4200, Elite Tactical, pretty much any thing Elite). Two COMPLETELY different tiers of scopes.
