Littleton Shotmaker

I use Varsol or diesel fuel to drop into. I have heard of guys using straight glycol or hydralic oil too.

I use brake fluid, it works well.

Brake fluid is glycol based (Polyalkylene Glycol Ether). Except DOT 5 which is silicone based. Brake fluid should also be kept closed as it very readily absorbs moisture which will substantially reduce it's boiling point.

You might also want to try water soluble cutting oil diluted with water in varying percentages.

We did about 600 lbs of shot this winter with a Littleton. We did it all into diesel fuel and the results were good enough for the girls we go with. While not perfectly round I have not had any of the clay pidgeons or real pidgeons we have hit complain about the sperical propertys of our shot.

I sold my shotmaker this spring , altho the shot I had made with it were not all perfectly round and some had the small dimple in their backside . They all broke the targets when you were pointing the gun in the right general area ! Most shot (unless super hard )Magnum is not perfectly round when it leaves the muzzle anyway ! I was using diesel fuel for a while (watch out for flash point ) Some of the guy's here in Sask. sold there garage to the insurance co. because of it !

I use the cheap fabric softener from Superstore and it works well. It washes off easily with water, and it also makes the shop smell good. Gord
