I was transferring primers from container to LEE primer, and I dropped a coupel of primers. They went "ping" when the hit the tray of 375 brass cases that was underneath them. I started digging aorund in the tray- No primers? DId they bounce out and on to the floor?

Nope, they were inside the cases! I shook all the cases out and found them. I wonder what would happen if I loaded that and fired it? Make a funny sound, for sure!

Well, the answer is probably nothing since, compared to powder, the primer doesn't put out that much power. Now, that being said, it would possibly speed up the powder buring speed curve a fair bit when it finally went off, so who knows. This is nothing more than than PURE THEORY. If you decide to try it, make sure you post a video so we can all watch :D

I've caught myself with primers in the cases as well. Thankfully I knew exactly how many brass and primers I had, when two primers were missing, the search was on, and there they were.

I had a primer go off in my press. It was REALLY LOUD. But not damage...

Also if you ever fired a primed empty cartridge the bullet ( a 230g 45 in this case) it moves about an inch.

They re not that powerful.

Gatehouse,
The NRA published a article many years ago on the effects of component swapping, using the 30-06 for the test. They were able to prove with pressure tested data that it was possible to increase the pressure 10,000 CUP by changing only the primer type, often with little change in velocity while other examples did nothing. That being the case, doubling the amount of primers in a load is bound to have some effect.
