couple weeks back at work my partner started talking about picking up a Alberta Tactical Modern Hunter.
while i personally think the gun is worth every penny i was rather surprised to hear my partner talk about getting one.
and he wasn't just talking about getting one, he WAS getting one.
he has the money (damn young single people!) and he has the want.
so this was going to happen.
he had fleshed out what he wanted for a caliber and had done the mock build up and had it all spec'd out and was ready to put his order in.
and then we got to talking and i found out that he had a nice new Remington 700 SPS Tactical in 308 at home.
i was rather surprised to hear that he was looking at getting a MH with such a nice blank slate at home with which to play with.
i planted the seeds of a build with him and left it at that.
my thoughts where he would either buy the MH or not buy it and build up his 700, either way he was going to have fun.
flash forward to this week at work and he walked in the door with a chassis for his 700.
so he was going for the build!
and wow was he ever!
i had hoped he would have come in here and shown off his build - and maybe he still might - but i was living vicariously though him and thought id come in and spur him into sharing.
now im not a precision gun guy myself so i dont know what is good stuff and what is bad, i dont know what the cool kids are using and what the low hanging fruit use. i one of those silly old doodlers that just use whatever i can get my grubby mitts on.
now, if im not mistaken this was what he did.
Remington 700 STS Tactical in 308
MDT Chassis system i believe the TAC21
Trigger Tech Trigger
Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP EBR-2C MOA
he still has to add a break or comp onto it and a sling and a bipod but wowsers is it nice!
and holy hell is it heavy!
at any rate, until he see's fit to come in and say a couple words i thought id just start with a Job Well Done my friend!
ill upload the pic he sent me when he was putting the Chassis together.
