Looking to find out your thoughts on the Llama IX-A 1911 .45acp.

I'm looking to purchase my first pistol, not quite sure if I'm going to get a Glock, a 1911 chambered in 9mm, or a .45 1911.Anyways, I'm not here to discuss what my first gun should be.

There is a private seller in my area selling one of these claiming never to have been shot. Just wondering if it is a good make, if can use most 1911 parts, and what something like this is worth.

Thanks for your time.

I've handled a few Llama 1911's, they seem ok. If i were buying a less expensive 1911 clone, i'd look to other makers (Norinco, SAM, RIA). Just my two pennies.

They are fine guns but they are not interchangeable with other 1911 parts, which may be a problem. Frankly we see them for sale from time to time and they are considerably overpriced. Even in excellent/LNIB they are at best a $350 gun, for which you can get a 1911 clone which parts are readily available. The Llama is a good gun and very accurate (I have numerous 1911 type Llamas from 22lr thru to 45acp) but parts and spare mags are very sparse.

The topic has been well answered here.

If it was me, if I could get this Llama for ~ $250 then I'd go for it. If it is $350'ish or more then I'd opt for one of the econo, real deal 1911's out there: Norinco, SAM etc.

Just my .02
