Nice shooting, considering the conditions, ammo, etc.
I believe standard US 5.56 ball ammo is only required to be accurate to something like 2 to 4 MOA, so I don't imagine the AE223T will be too different. Handloading will definately help some. There are also a few factory options.
Something else to consider, its to pick the target to match your optics. I have targets designed for use with my 2MOA Aimpoint PROs, as well as Leupold CQTs, and it does tend to make a difference, for me anyway.
As for triggers, ArmsEast has some Geissele Triggers in stock that may be just what you want. They have a very good reputation amongst AR users.

I have had a couple of CQTs for a while, I think it was before the S&B Short Dots and other 1-4/1-5s became popular. In addition to the standard ITAR restrictions, these things get a special mention, and mine came with appropriate State Department approval letters etc.
With regards to targets, the ones I got for the Aimpoints, have a choice of either red or green dots in the centre, sized appropriately for either 2 or 4 MOA. They are used for zeroing at 25 and 50 meters, and the idea is to dial down the illumination to the lightest dot you can still see, and to cover the appropriate sized dot on the target. Perhaps making your own target based on the same principle but sized to the correct MOA for your sight at the required distance might work.

I have a fair amount of that 223 American Eagle tactical ammo as well. I'll be trying my 16" LMT MRP with it and some PMC 5.56mm too.
The trigger: I found the same thing. The stock trigger was so so. That being said after spraying G96 in there a few times and doing some dry firing it is pretty good now. It didn't take much at all. It's significantly better than when I first bought the rifle. I actually won't be replacing the one in mine even though I initially thought I would have to.
