Hey guys I've actually never bothered looking at lmt ar's until just now because of everyone saying they are expensif but ... The basic lmt with a 16" barrel is going for 1389$ which is about what all the other brands are going for. So if the lmt really is the creme de la creme of ar's why isn't everyone jumping at them with a price like that? I'm in the market for one and I'm seriously considering the lmt spm 16 , it's in my budget and it seems to be a well respected brand

you can't go wrong with a LMT, the price of the basic model has always hover around the $1300-1400 range, just make sure you get your eyes on it or ask questions before you buy it, if it is the "export compliant" model that means the barrel is finished with a target crown and the stock is fixed.
it is not a big deal but you just need to know.

The barrel and the stock on the export model are the only things, otherwise the component is exactly the same as the other models.

You have the option of ordering the SPM-F version which has the threaded barrel, A2 flash hider and full adjustable stock... $1,589

Or buy the X version now and if you need/want the threaded barrel or multiple position stock later you can have it done at that time. Part of the fun of AR's is customizing them to fit your own needs.

Spend the extra on the LMT mrp. It's well worth the extra. Free float monolithic upper. Quick release swivel points on the rail itself (comes with two quick release swivels), sopmod stock, and the barrels including the Chrome lined ones are Mike Rock.

About the only criticism I can make is the stock trigger. It's fine but it's a stock trigger. A bit heavier and a bit of creep. Still for a battle rifle trigger it's very good.

One thing to keep in mind though. The barrels are proprietey with their angled gas port and straight gas tube along with the user change feature. The barrels aren't cheap but you can change them out yourself in a couple minutes. SS barrels are also out there.

The quality and value are definately there with the LMT. If looking for a stock rifle there are lots of good choices including LMT. The LMT top end models are were it gets really interesting.
