I just picked up an Armi San Paulo 2-band Enfield. Do I use ffg in this chunk of drainpipe or is there a load of fffg I can use. I shoot fffg in everything else I've got. I've never had anything to do with a .58 cal and it would be nice to have a starting point to work with.
Anybody know any suppliers for .570 round ball in BC or Alberta?

FFG is the stuff for the big bores.
P&D had round ball, and you can order it from Higginsons in Ontario.
They are very fast with their mail ordering.

I run 130 grains of FFG behind a .570 ball with my Hawken, but your musketoon will likely be better off with a minie ball and 90 grains.

My Enfield Musketoon will not shoot round ball near as well as Minie style bullets. The sights are also regulated for the heavier bullets. It is really difficult keeping round ball on target at even 50yd unless a fair bit of "windage" is applied. As Cat said, start with a moderate load of FFg behind any of the production Minies, and work up slowly. I found it cheaper to buy a Lee mould and cast my own bullets!

I use 3Fg in my 4 muskets. Works well. The musketoon gives me 3" with 70 grains of 3Fg behind a 455 grain minnie ball. My Parker Hale repros don't like lube in the base of the minnie, just on the sides.
