Hi All,

Do any of you out there care to share an excellent load for the 62 grain SS109 bullet? I'd just like to eliminate some of the guess work :D Powder options I have readily available are Varget, Acurate Arms 2230 and Win 748.

Please help a brother out

I used H-335, just shy of compressed. In cases trimmed to 1.750, I'd seat the bullets to the forward edge of the canellure.

Start around 24.0 grains of any of that stuff. Of the powders you have, I would tend to favor the 2230. I would go to the mid point of the canillure for seating as you will likely find they are not consistent in positioning off the ogive from bullet to bullet.

Field tested 2230 powder. The loads chrono'd at an average of 2925 fps. Very consistent as far as speed. There was only about 20 fps variance, but grouped poorly (2.5 inches at 100 yards). I'm going to try and push the bullets a little faster and see if that makes a difference.

Anyone elso out there with load ideas? Many people have looked at the thread but remain silent LOL.

I'm having a similar issue with my Swiss Arms. I CANNOT find a load that it likes! It shoots the cheap Federal 55 gr stuff (Tactical) stuff well but opens up with 62 gr Winchester stuff and the handloads I use, both 55 gr and 63 gr.

Howdy

Swiss Arms are very fussy about their food....

I've never gotten a perfect group. There is always one flyer:mad:

Sticker, wow what a nice target. Swiss service rifles sure can be accurate. My AR-15 Sporter gets honest 2.5"-3" groups (10-15 shot at 100 yards), using the best ammo I can make and my best shooting equipment and technique (BR rest, sandbag, 20X Leupold target scope etc).

@glocker, seat your bullets to magazine length, crimp the case mouth into the cannelure if that appeals to your thoughts, work up to a max load with any of the powders you have listed (they are all good choices), and you are good to go.

Either the bullet sucks, or you're not hitting the right harmonic node in your rifle using the powder charges you've tried. Have you done a ladder test? If not, I would strongly suggest you consider looking into it. I've got a perfect load for my 20" AR15, but the load seriously blows in 16" AR15s, Swiss Arms, Tavors, all of them just suck with it (23.5 gr WC735 behind Hornady 55gr bullet in IVI brass). You have to fine tune for each rifle because no gun operates exactly the same as the next.

Sticker.... You look really handsome in the pic and that's a great target but it's the recipe we're after :) Care to share?

Thanks Brother! Crimping is about the only thing I haven't done so far. I'll give it a try.
