I loaded some .45ACP ammo and just noticed that some primers aren't seated deap enough (was causing missfires at the range).

Would it be safe to seat the primers deaper now? I'm not going to pull the bullets I'd rather shoot em 'as is'.

Safest thing to do is pull the bullets, empty the powder, and then reseat the primers.Seating primers deeper in loaded rounds is really asking for trouble

Its also not a good idea to shoot these rounds.A high primer can cause a slam fire and out of battery firing. This could damage your gun or yourself.

We all make the occasional mistake reloading,Ive put my bullet puller to use on more than one occasion!

You can, IF YOU GO SLOWLY, using a Lee hand priming tool.

WEAR SAFETY GLASSES!

As mentioned before it's possible to seat deeper but proceed with caution, as unlikely as it that you will set off the primer while seating it is indeed remotely possible, Murphy's law being what it is. I have personally managed to set off a primer on an unloaded case during such an effort(scared the living tar out of me).

You can, but a lot depends on what press you have. My single stage press will do it with no fuss. Primer need a sharp smack to set them off. The primer seater doesn't do that.

I loaded 200 rounds, IIRC only have 95left... Maybe 1 in 5-10 has a high primer.

btw I don't even have a bullet puller... When I used to prime on my Lee press (w/ rim prime) I NEVER had that problem but recently started using Lee Auto prime hand tool and I guess was being too carefull with it (didn't want it to blow up in my face). I'll have to make sure I seat them deap enough from now on...

I will try (carefully) to seat one round at the range and see how it goes....
