Loaded PMAGs will not insert on closed bolt, dust cover does not latch either.

I just received 14 Gen 3 PMAGs and none will insert on a closed bolt when loaded and the dust covers won’t latch when the mags are loaded.

Company I got them from used to pin at 5.9ish from what I read so they’d insert loaded on a closed bolt and the dust covers would work.

I’m frustrated by this, very irritated actually as this limits their usefulness in my opinion.

Anyone deal with this in the past? Did the vendor work to make it right?

If this happens to you do you just accept it?

Any way to correct it?

Thanks

With 5 rounds loaded how much can you push down the ammo stack? Pictures would be really helpful. What rifle? Do you have a another rifle that takes the same mags to compare?

They will need to be massaged. Welcome to the unengineered bastardization required by our laws. If it makes you feel better many 30rnd mags have the same issue when stuffed with 30rnds.

Thanks, yeah I’m as frustrated by our stupid laws more than I am about the rivet placement.

By massaged I’m guessing you mean redoing the rivet or adjusting the follower to gain the needed slack while staying at 5.9 rounds or less.

Talked to the vendor who offered to fix them.

Started fixing one, so far it looks like I’ll need to remove between 1/8”-3/16” of the follower where the rivet sits.

Impossible to insert either the 5.56 or the .308 PMAG into a rifle with a closed bolt and run the action.

It takes about 5 minutes to remove the rivet, file the follower and insert a new rivet.
I use a round file about 3/16”-1/4” in diameter.
I also countersink the rivet head.
