Just wondering what bullets people are using to fit the short mag well of the Rem 700 SA?
I built a hunting gun from one of my F-Class rigs and was hoping to take advantage of the 1:8 twist barrel and shoot 140gr bullets, but due to the short mag well of the SA 700 it wold mean pushing more than half the length of most bullets into the case.
I have some 129gr Hornady Interbond's for my Savage Lt Wt Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor but the bullets are far too long to use in the .260 without pushing the end of the bullet down into the case far enough that the base is about even with where the shoulder starts to form on the case.
The Interbond's are 1.34"
Bullet's in the 1.1" (and under) would be ideal but I'm having a hard time finding bullet lengths on manufacturer's websites.
This is maximum length of this cartridge to fit in the mag well. As you can see, the bullet is waaay in the case.
