Loading 300 WSM

Dies marked 300WSM???

Seriously what are you looking for.

Lee's work, so do RCBS, and Hornady, Redding is a smidge on the better side(IMO), but for 95% of all the guys who use a 300WSM for hunting and a bit of target work, don't sweat it too much.

Personally I have a set of Hornady dies for my 300WSM, and a set of RCBS for the 270WSM, both make great reloads.

Focus on other aspects of the equation.

I've never had a problem the the RCBS, get the neck sizer die as well it'll help with the brass life.

Not necessary with WSM's, most won't cycle after neck sizing only. The neck to body juncture is so steep, that sizing the neck often results in a bulge just below the case shoulder, that inhibits chambering.

Most WSM's require not only full length sizing, but a good measure of cam over on the press to get enogh sizing to re chamber.

Case life is not inhibited or so it seems in my two WSM's I'm on 12 loads on my 270WSM, and at least 10 loads on the 300WSM brass. Both die sets are set to FL size with maximum press cam over.

Never had that problem with the 8WSM rifles I have loaded for ,Tika, sako, remington and savage rifles ,Been useing RCBS Dies

I have Reddings for my 300 WSM, and nary a problem with them. My Vanguard regularly groups under ¾ moa with the loads I use, and a moose at 370 yards seemed to fall right over with the first shot, so all seems to work well. eagleye.

Your very lucky.
Having had the cam over issue with both rifles, and then reading countless posts on the web of the same troubles, I'd say yup...go buy your 649 ticket today.

how often are you guys trimming your 300 WSM brass? My tikka doesn't like them on the long side at all.

As with every cartridge I trim all cases to 5 thou over recommended min, trim length.

On my 300WSM, that usually equates to nothing more than a light skiff( 1-1.5 thou) on the case mouth each time, but I do it every time.

run through theTrimer every time I load ,even though Not much Ever comes off ,brass length always measures to spec, I partitial neck size and it is good to go .

Lefty #### - Wish I could win that 649 ,it would pay for the new house I just built ;)

Another Redding user here.
I use the FL die with the .010 competition shellholder and as the others have said use full die base to shellholder camover.
Rifle is an HS Precision and brass is Federal or Winchester trimmed short.

Right out of the catalog FL only is 91223. Deluxe 3 die set is 84223, FL set (2 die) is 80223, Neck die only is 81223 and neck die and seater is 82223.

Then there are seater dies, body dies and bushing dies so you have more than a few options when you start shopping Redding.

Order up a catalog on line and pick what you think will work for you.
