I built a loading bench several years ago. I have since moved and the new area for my bench has poor lighting and storage.

I was in Lowe's today and they have a Coleman Tool Bench Hutch. It is too big for my bench. but it has all the features... overhead light, pegboard back etc.

My question has anyone ever built a "hutch" for storage etc? And if so does anyone wish to share plans?

Here is mine I built a couple months ago. 12" pine boards from Home Depot, pegboard back, under counter lighting for the light. Its working out pretty good for me.

I could scribble some dimensions down, but the plans were pretty much in my head. Its 48" wide by ~ 40.5" tall and the shelft has 12" between the boards. Its attached to the bench with 4 small L brackets on the inside and by nailing the pegboard to the back of the bench. I wanted to be able to put binders and books in the top shelves so I made sure they would fit and the peg board was 48x48. I don't have many tools as I live in a condo for now, so I had my cut list ready for home depot, and just left the pegboard to hang below the top of the bench level a few inches.

While I was doing the hutch project I re-surfaced the top of the bench and left the plywood hanging over by 1" so that I could mount the 650 without notching out the front 2x4. I used 1/8" hardboard to surface the top to give a nice smooth surface to use a scale on. My plan was for this to be a temporary fix then build a nicer bench over the summer, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out so I may just keep it the way it is for a while.
