Ok, I use graf brass from ellwood epps. They don't always have it in stock, but it's cheap and good.
I use varget powder, and started with .308 bullets on the advice of the guy at the gun store, but they only worked the first time. The second time I went to load, I found the bullets slid right in the neck of the cases, and slid right out again just as easily spilling powder everywhere.
Turns out .308 bullets weren't such a good idea after all. I started putting a crimp on them to hold them in, but the .308 bullets I had, didn't have a cannelure, and I sometimes crumpled cases, because the lee loader doesn't exactly make putting on a crimp an exact science, so...... (oh yeah, I've been loading with a 24 dollar lee loader for my 54 russian)
I went to hornady .303 brit (.311) 174 grain interlock and things worked much better, and accuracy was still good, but the jacketed bullets were pretty pricey.
I then got some LEE cast bullets from the lee C312-185 (.312 diameter, 185 grain) mould given to me. They worked very nice in the 1900 fps range with no leading, and I'm getting a mould for them before the next season.
The other thing I found out was that .32 caliber cast pistol bullets from the bullet barn will do 1150 fps with 5 grains of Bullseye pistol powder. I shot them alot at the 50 yard range and they shot to point of aim, on the 100 yard notch of my 91/30 suprisingly.
155 grainers cast bullet (lee mould code C312-155-2R) for the fly nice to 1050-1250 with 7 grains of Bullseye pistol powder. I haven't tested that last velocity, because I didn't bring my chrony out that day, and shot up all my bullets testing for accuracy, but that's the range I'm told they shoot in depending on your particular rifle. I didn't use gas checks on them, or size them, and I just used lee alox tumble lube and they shot very accurately out at 100 yards.
These last two make awesome plinking loads super cheap, with very very little recoil and no muzzle blast. I'm out of the cast bullets I got, so I'm gonna have to buy one or both of those molds now too.
So, that's where I'm at with that. I guess I'll probably post this on the board too.
Bobby.
