I have recently acquired a Winchester M70, chambered in 325 WSM.
Interested in knowing if anyone on here is loading this orphan, and if
so, what are you using with success. Just looking for some starting
points, but am particularly interested in 200 grain bullets and either
Reloder 17, Reloder 19, VV N560 or IMR 4831. Thanks in advance, Dave.

Eagleye!
Been loading for that round for 9 years now - have tried H4831, R17, 4007, and H4350.
I have a M70, it favours H4350 with 200gr NAB and 200 SMK's... 63.5 grains, sort of a mid-range load, and accuracy is stellar
Some serious whoop-ass with that load...

Dave

I bought a Mod 70 Ftrwt a while ago and have been trying a few loads with 200 Parts but nothing definitive yet..........I'm thinking IMR/H 4350 though or maybe RL 15/17 or the new 16 if it ever comes to Canada. I don't think I have any ABs but I have a lot of Parts and this should be a great bullet for it.

Yes, Doug, I was also thinking about the 200 Partition. I have a few laid in, plus a box of the ABs. I am going to start with RL 17 to see if it works. Hoping to flirt with 3000 fps. Dave.

I got real close to 3000 (chronology said 2960) with R17, but it was HOT, hurtful snappy, and real hard on the brass - and terribly inaccurate.
H4350 gave me a very wide node and peaked at 2875-2900, with good/excellent accuracy. The load i posted above is just below 2800 fps in my rifle - this rifle hit its max below book max, accuracy was absolute best at 63.5.

Thanks, Chris. I will keep that in mind. I have all those powders mentioned by yourself and the others in stock....so plenty to experiment with. D.

For bullets I have tried the 200 accubond and partition, 180 ballistic tip, tsx and etip, 220 gameking and 160ttsx. I had good results with imr4831 with most bullets, rl17 gave great speed with the 160. The 325 is my go to hunting rifle, seems to be lucky for me.

I load for 3 325s (none of them mine) and all have shot well with H 4350 and RL 17. RL 17 will get you approx 80-100 fps over 4350 but its a lot harder on the brass, its temp sensitive and recoil is noticeably more.

hi Dave. A buddy's m70 24" did well with the 200gr TSX & H4350, the load we settled on was not very hot, but shot well consistently at around 2850 fps
