I just bought a new rear rabbit ear shooting bag for target shooting where can I find Heavy / black sand to fill this very nice rear bag.

https://www.amazon.ca/Bald-Eagle-BE1131-Rear-Small/dp/B00CG2L2DE/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1479597007&sr=8-4-fkmr2&keywords=Bald+Eagle+rear+shooting+bag

If you live anywhere near me (Regina), from my basement. If you don't, just buck up and order some from Brownell's.

I went through this 18 months ago.

Oh, and prepare to be flamed for asking such a ridiculous question......

Look in the Yellow Pages for Sand and Gravel, Landscaping places or Concrete places in your area.

Ask if they have Riverbed, Chromite or Zircon Sand (lightest to heaviest).

Zircon Sand is used in the Ceramic industry so check your area for Ceramic manufacturers

I don't know how much 'heavier' this stuff is than regular sand, but it's worked great in my rear bag!

Tried that. They wanted me to buy a super sack. I declined.

might be 20 pounds or more depending on the bag,

I have tried for 1 year to get some out of the states and piggyback it onto another order so shipping does not kill the resale but it is tough

might be 2.50 to 3 dollars a pound plus shipping for real zircon

I usually sell it at the Calgary gun show and there has not been once that the customer across the table has not #####ed about the price at 3 dollars a pound when I buy it and package it and bring it to the show so no shipping and charge 3 a pound or less and make

wait for it

wait for it

23 cents a pound without the gun show costs and they still whine

may try again this winter but I need to buy it in 500 pound quantities to make it happen and then 3 years to sell it,

anyway I will look into it again as I have about 3 guys bugging me

wish they would buy it and I could buy some from them for 23 cents profit

I found that out small holes all over the place to fill it. any idea how much I need to fill this thing?

Mine's a Champion bag, attached to a wood base, and likely a bit smaller in volume than yours. I got about 1.75 cans of the Canadian Tire sandblasting media in the bag, and will likely get the rest in once the leather stretches out and everything settles. The sand doesn't move around much, and packs down tight. The whole unit weighs about 5.5 lbs & is very solid.

Tractor supply company carries blasting media. Black Diamond Medium Blasting Abrasives. I got a 50lb bag at the TSC in Milton . the Canadian brand is Optima minerals Inc.

Can't remember cost but it was under $20.00

best of luck

If you can find it, Magnetite is probably pretty heavy. It is used in coal cleaning operations. Basically they make a water slurry of it and coal floats in the slurry while rock sinks. So if you can find a coal mine with a cleaning operation they probably have lots of it! Oh wait, our politicians have banned them all...
