Hit the range again and put a decent amount of rounds through the rifle. Here is some more statistics:
Rifle was cleaned before I started.
Ammo used was pmc bronze 223
Magazines used were steel 10rnd lar15 Pistol mags
First 20 rounds functioned fine.
On mag #3 the rifle started to fail to pickup rounds or would start to misfeed.
I removed weight by weight to eliminate this issue.
Only up until removing every weight where the buffer is now empty (46ish grams) the rifle functioned fine.
After 100rnds no issues.
Makes me wonder that the recoil spring is too stiff or the gas port is too small. Regardless, it is ejecting around 4 O'clock and has been functioning properly in a dirty condition. I think I will leave it here unless it malfunctions again.
Next range visit I'll switch ammo to 5.56mm Nato to see if the extra bit of powder helps any.
