Locking a pistol with a mounted weapons light

Have a Walther PDP with a Streamlight TLR7 mounted. My normal Master trigger lock won’t lock up when the light is mounted. The post is too short to engage the teeth.

I rather not use a cable lock since it doesn’t fit the case right.

Any suggestions for properly locking it up? A different brand of trigger lock with a longer post? I’d really prefer a combination trigger lock style as opposed to keyed.

There are not too many options out there. Most of the combo trigger locks are quite bulky and the smaller locks are the screw in type. I would go with the cable lock personally but another option would be one of the individual hand gun safes available, however they can be a little pricy.

You could also try rotating the trigger lock 90° so that the bulk is under the trigger guard. Like so:

I assume you're transporting the gun. Can you easily remove the light?
It's not like the flashlight is zeroed or anything. Later put it back on.
You likely won't need the flashlight at the range anyway.
Later, at home, when clearing the basement for zombies, you can put it back on.

Lol you also don't need the helmet, plate carrier with plate in it, knee pads, etc. But that doesn't stop some people.

I use an Axon brand combo cable lock for my PDP with light. I then tuck the locking mechanism into the magwell.

I've noticed that some of these locks have short shanks. Maybe a long shank version will fix it for you. Post up a photo so we can see how much distance we're talking about.

Or, maybe it's the molded guard on the lock that is the problem. If that's got a fixed raised molding on it, maybe you can shave that off.

Try flipping the lock around so that the flatter upper part is toward the switch.
I have the same gun w/ AGX frame and light as you and the lock fits.

I scrapped all my combo locks a long time ago. I have been using DAC metal trigger locks get from (I couldn’t confirm they are a sponsor so I deleted it google works) They are very compact, so they may work. The keys are crappy though. What I do is run a 1/4” tap through the threaded part and replace it with a grade 8 allen cap screw. A standard Allen key is used to unlock it. These are a metal version of those cheap plastic locks you can still get, but you won’t pop these off without destroying the trigger guard. At $14/3 they are a good deal

^^^+1 to this, it’s the only way I’ve found to work with the Master or Huntshield combo trigger locks if you have a pistol light attached. The small low profile locks like dogzilla mentioned would work but they’re not all that quick to remove, I switched to combos to eliminate multiple keys and because they’re so quick and easy to remove. Convenience won out for me.
