Heard many said using the Red loctite.

But I have difficulty to locate them and all I've got is the 242 threadlocker.

I know the correct one should be Loctite 262 or 638.

Anyone know where can I get them.

Canadian Tires, Rona don't have them at all.:(

Loctite products are carried by industrial bearing supply houses...Try GBS (General Bearing Service) they have several locations in Ontario, among others.

fastening stores...(in my area it is Maritime Fasteners) that sell specialty screws.etc..have all kinds.....never have seen so many different types in one store. You can also get retaining screws for mag pads, and Mount screws for Open gun mounts at these places...fyi

You will need a heat source to unfasten the parts if you use red loctite.Reconsider the application see if you really need it.

Also, it is branded under the Uncle Mikes name too (Red & Blue) and you can order this through any gun store. I bought mine in stock at Williams Arms. It's funny, the Red is in a Blue Bottle with a Red Label, the Blue is in a Red Bottle with a Blue Label.

TSC stores has both red and blue (also try your local auto parts store). I needed some blue and I almost bought the red today at the TSC.

Try using the blue stuff first, if it doesn't do what you need it to do, then go with the red. With red, your kinda up the creek if you need to disassemble it.

Many red ones

Below is from a message I received from Mr. Adams at Henkel in response to a request for information regarding high strength permanent "red" LocTite.

We make about 12 red ones using the global Loctite trade name. Most of them are good to 300F, we do offer some high temperature thread lockers. I suggest 272 which is rated to 450F in service. Available at your local Industrial Distributor. Primer N is suggest with Stainless and coated metals.

I found the 272 and the Primer N at SB Simpson Industrial Supplies in Burlington.

Just bought the Loctite 262 Threadlocker at Brofasco, thanks for the info and I'll reconsider before using the red one. But just keep one handy when the blue one doesn't hold. That's for the mount of my open gun to the receiver, do u think it is necessary? :D

The real key to loctite is prep work.
Make sure everything is degreased in advance of application.
Dawson uses acetone.
I find the fumes a little too strong for the shop so Rubbing Alcohol works for me.
