Loking for 41 short colt reloading Data

Goex has it listed as 15 grains of fffg black powder with a 160 grain bullet. Personally, I'd try a 200 grain hollow base bullet with as much fffg as would fit.

I’d love to round up some good first hand experience and info on these cartridges and consolidate them into one place. I’m just getting into 41 long colt and I’m finding it dodgey at best trying to find consistent, reliable and safe information.

I don’t think there is much data out there for 41 Short Colt. That’s why I would only recommend black powder for it. For 41 Long Colt, I mostly use black powder. 20 grains of fffg. As far as I know, the only smokeless load data that was ever in a manual only listed Bullseye and Unique. I have used both in a Colt 1892 that is in good shape. I wouldn’t use smokeless at all in an 1877. I use 200 grain soft lead hollow base bullets for all. I can look through my stuff here if you want some old reloading info on the Bullseye and Unique.

I think I probably just don’t know the right way to ask or what I’m asking about by the sounds of things, my plan is definitely to use BP and the same bullets you described. I don’t want to highjack this thread thought, would it be alright if I PMd you about your process?

Yep, you bet. I PM’d you. And anything to bump this thread is relevant I think. I’d like to get a Colt New Line in 41 one of these days, so I’ll be keeping an eye on it. If only Starline would do another run of long colt brass! Then folks could afford to cut it down to short colt. These days the brass is pretty precious.

Agreed, I was looking at that H&C brass/reloading kits over at oldgunscanada which is supposedly coming out of Europe, I suspect France from the website but I’ve never found a review on it anywhere and I’m pretty sure they want nearly $4.50 a piece for brass.
