I just bought a brand new Glock 22 Gen 3 and was thinking of buying the Lone Wolf stainless steel barrel so I can shoot 9mm also. My question here is are the 40 cal mags a problem in loading the 9mm and cycling same without a problem? I guess 9mm G17 mags are reasonably priced but using the G22 mags for the purpose of loading 9mm seems reasonable.

I found using the G17 mags in the G22 resulted in unreliability. Some guns will take 9mm in the 40 mags without problem, but I found that not to be the case with the Glocks. After u stuff a few in the mag, they will start to pop out as the lips are not quite tight enough for the 9mm. If u want reliability, I'd stick with the G17mags unless you want to practice your IA drills...a lot

I haven't had a problem but I could see how it could happen as mentioned above. For the most part you can avoid this issue by using quality mags with strong steel lips, and leave them fully loaded with 40s&w for a while prior to using 9mm. From factory new my mag springs were so tight it couldn't even fit 10 rounds of 40s&w into them!

I have the LW 40-9 conversion barrel. 9mm feeds fine in my Gen4 G22 mags. I also have the Gen 4 G17 mags and these work with no problem either. All my mags are 10/15 and 10/17's, I do run a G17 Gen 4 RSA not sure if this is needed though.

I have this conversion, and don't own any 9 mm mags. My 3 Glock 22 mags have worked flawlessly, feeding without a single failure of any kind.

I'm sure that well-worn mags with worn-down feed lips could cause problems, but mine were brand new (only fired a couple of hundred rounds of .40 through them before trying the LW conversion barrel), and I've had no issues of any kind.

As an aside, I was absolutely blown away with the consistent accuracy of the LW conversion barrel - 9 mm shoots beautifully in the Glock 22!!

I agree 100% with the above statement!!!!!
My .40 S&W Glock 22 mags work perfectly loaded with .9mm.
Accuracy in .9mm is excellent as well!!!!

I've got four of 40SW mags. One of them will spill out ammo if I slap it on the bottom or if I accidentally drop it. The other three work perfectly.

I have a conversion barrel for my M&P40...9mm mags are pretty much a necessity with it. If Glock 22 mags work with the conversion, that's one up for Glock.

The Storm Lake barrels are little steel gems...just holding it in my hand is a bit of a thrill...

Thanks guys I can't wait to pick it up from Casey at Tactical Ordnance.

No issues here with using 40S&W mags with the Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion in a Glock 22. I eventually bought 2 9mm magazines, but they were at a good price and I needed more magazines anyway. Regarding Casey, not enough good things can be said about him. He is a great gunsmith and an awesome person.

I used G17 mags when I had a G22 and a LW 9mm barrel. I have a G17 gen4 how and kinda miss it. Extra weight of the G22 slide and heavy barrel smoothed out the recoil a bit making it less snappy.

Use LW 40-9 for a while now. Also switch out recoil spring with a G17 one when switching barrels. Use 9mm mags and works flawlessly even shooting cheap 9mm reloads.

Why would you switch the recoil spring? The 17 and the 22 use the same recoil spring weight. Same with the 19 and 23.

I have a 23 with a 40-9 conversion and I use Glock 19 magazines. Found I had the occasional jam using the 23 magazines.

In gen 1-3 they are the same. Gen4 uses different recoil spring assemblies for 17 and 22 models. I did the same thing when I had a gen4 G22
